Casa Brites Aguiar is an agricultural family company owned by three siblings (Lúcia, Paulo and Tomy) who were given the property by their parents, Fernanda Brites and Manuel Aguiar. Vineyards and wine represent the main economic base of the business, while it also owns a 15 ha olive grove, a 7 ha cherry-orchard, 4 ha of chestnuts, 2 ha of walnuts and forest. It is situated on the slopes of the Torto River and one of its tributaries, the Galegos Creek. Várzea de Trevões, a small village in the municipality of São João da Pesqueira - Portugal. Autochthonous varieties are grown in accordance with environmentally friendly practices on a stretch of 45 ha of vineyards in the birthplace of Port wine at an altitude between 230 and 450 m. The vineyards are 20 years old and boast the following varieties: 17 ha of Touriga Franca, 15 ha of Tinta Roriz, 7 ha of Touriga Nacional, 3 ha of Tinta Amarela and 1 ha of Tinta Francisca. The vinification plant, the jewel on the crown of this agricultural estate, was built in 2003 and equipped to facilitate the application of the most modern vinification techniques. Pedro Sequeira and António Rosas make up the Duplo P R company and share their success with the Brites Aguiar family. A young and dynamic team that seeks to achieve stable and sustained growth in oenology.
